As the story unfolds Marva's strength, resilience and sheer beauty shines through. Her vultures or perpetrators are aware of this, so their intention was to totally destroy her by preventing her from achieving her goals and ultimate potential.

A short book. Nonetheless, the setbacks and events in Marva's life make this a moving, sad book, which makes you reflect on having confidence in yourself and God's mercy.
This story is very prevalent among immigrant families that leave their homeland to pursue a better way of life. The children that they leave behind with relatives to raise are the subject of hardships and abuse due to the lack of economic resources. This story is about overcoming obstacles and still making it in spite of betrayal, jealousy, and family interference. Anyone that have relatives in a Third World country can relate to the story.
This was an unusual read for me from the books that I normally read. This is the story of Marva and the people that abused her or took advantage of her. In the end, she overcomes the abuse and lives a better life. Marva is from Jamaica and lives in England so the culture is much different than I am used to in America. I can't imagine the unkindness going on among women in this book with the jealousy and truly awful things that were done to Marva. In the book summary I get a much better sense of Marva's faith than I did while actually reading the book. The book also shared more information in places than I was comfortable with reading, but abuse is never pleasant to read about, It is clear that people were not good to Marva and she overcame much in the end, so that was good.

Awesome book!!!! I could not put it down
The story of this book is very intriguing. It's a must read. It depicts the life of a young girl who suffered at the hands of those she loved and trusted. This story is definitely an "eye opener" for all. You cannot be too trusting of everyone you associate with. As the saying goes "wolves sometimes come in sheep's clothing". Awesome story.
This book is so different from any book I have ever read. It really grabs your heart. My heart ached for Marva.
I have always felt like trust is the core of any good relationship and good relationships are few. Cherish them.
It amazed me and disgusted me to realized how awful some people are and how much effort is put into hurting and destroying others.
Thank God for Marva and others like her that can endure, forgive, love and move forward.
