There are moments.
Glorious moments that sometimes stretch into days
Where I don't think about you

The most blissful feeling
Is the blank empty space
Where you used to occupy every thought and decision.

It's so liberating
The freedom of forgotten regrets.
It's a lie I sweetly grasp hold of
And a dream I never want to wake from.

But like an old wound when a storm hits
I begin to remember and ache.

It would be more bearable if all I had left
Were the broken pieces
Of the forever I sacrificed so much for.

It would be easier
To hold tight to the sharp words
And the shattered dreams.

But the truth of it all
Is that you were the match that started the inferno

And the only time you were ever happy
Was watching the world burn.
